Jewelry Care Instruction
Our jewelry is made with precious metals and gemstones. Understanding how to care for and protect your jewelry can make a world of difference in maintaining its beauty.
Following are a few tips on how to do so:
We recommend bringing your jewelry at least once a year for a routine check-up, ultrasonic cleaning and maintenance if needed.
Always protect your jewelry from sharp blows, scratching, chemicals, sunlight and extreme temperatures. Excessive heat and sudden temperature changes may also fracture some gems. Pearls, for instance, may bleach under extreme exposure to light.
Store your jewelry in a soft lined box or soft pouch with an anti-tarnish strip. Try keeping pieces apart so they don’t rub together. If you don’t have a jewelry box, please use the velvet pouch given to you with your purchase.
Your jewelry will age and tarnish naturally, to keep your pieces in pristine condition, clean them regularly, preferably using a professional jewelry-cleaning product. Always read the manufacturer’s instructions, different products work for different metals and gems.
Our purple cleaning solution is perfect for gold/platinum and diamonds jewelry. Do not use our solution on Amethyst, Aquamarine, Cameo, Coral, Emeralds, Opals, Pearls, Tanzanite, Morganites and Turquoise Gems.
Cleaning fine jewelry at home (including most delicate gems) may be done without risks by using just warm water, a mild detergent-free soap and a very soft brush. Thoroughly dry your jewelry after exposure to water. A soft, lint-free cloth can be used.
Be sure not to rinse your jewelry directly in the sink, since you risk losing loose stones or even an entire piece of jewelry.
Jewelry cleaning cloths are a quick, safe and easy way to clean your jewelry. Some of our cleaning cloths are treated with tarnish-fighting and inhibiting ingredients that safely and effectively clean and polish the surface of gold, silver, and platinum jewelry. It is safe to use gently in most jewelry pieces. Avoid rubbing delicate ones (like emeralds and pearls) directly with it. We also offer untreated cleaning cloths which are safe to use with all jewelry.
Avoid chlorine in swimming pools while wearing jewelry, it can cause damage to metals and might erode gold jewelry. Chlorine is also harmful to various gems. Do not wear fine jewelry while at the sand or beach.
Keep gold jewelry away from harsh chemicals like household cleaning fluids as they create abrasions and reduce the luster of the metal. Even everyday substances like hairspray, lotion, perfume or other cosmetics can contain chemicals that will permanently damage the surface of your pearls and other delicate or porous gems (like pearls and turquoise).
If using an ultrasonic cleaner at home, please remember that the vibration generated by the machine can sometimes shake gems loose or chip gems that are set with their girdles touching. Do not use this cleaning process on treated gems, pearls, coral, ivory or amber. Nor in gems susceptible to heat and temperature changes such as tanzanite, moonstone, lapis lazuli, opal, topaz, and turquoise gems.
